Anita Stewart was born on Februar 7, 1895 in Brooklyn, NY, US. She was an American Actriz, Productor, known for A Tale of Two Cities (1911), Human Desire (1919), Uncle Bill (1914), Anita Stewart's first movie on record is from 1911. Anita Stewart died on May 4, 1961 in Beverly Hills, CA, US. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1927.
Biografia (en Alemán): Schauspielerin und Produzentin des amerikanischen Stummfilms in mehr als 100 Filmen, eigentlich Anna M. Stewart, geboren und aufgewachsen in Brooklyn. Erste Komparsenrolle bei Vitagraph noch während ihrer Schulzeit an der Erasmus High School: 1911 spielte sie neben zahlreichen Stars wie Norma Talmadge, Mabel Normand oder Maurice Costello eine Rolle in der erfolgreichen Adaption von Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities". 1917 heiratet sie den Schauspieler Rudolph Cameron, der auch in romantischen Filmrollen ihr Partner ist. 1918 offeriert Louis B. Meyer ihr einen Vertrag bei den Mayer Studios in Los Angelese, der ihr als Produzentin auch Kontrolle über ihre eigenen Filme gewährt. Die Filme haben zwar nur mässigen Erfolg, aber Anita Stewart spielt in den Zwanziger Jahren nach wie vor Hauptrollen. 1928 wird ihre Ehe mit Cameron geschieden, im folgenden Jahr heiratet sie George Peabody Converse.
Anita Stewarts Karriere währt bis zum Ende der Stummfilmzeit, den Übergang zum Tonfilm schaffte sie wie mancher Stummfilmstar nicht: nur ein Tonfilm von ihr ist überliefert - paradoxerweise lautet sein Titel "The Hollywood Handicap". Sie zieht sich vom Film zurück, 1961 stirbt sie in Beverly Hills an den Folgen eines Herzinfarktes.
