Dorrit Weixler died on November 30, 1916 in Berlin. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1918.
Biographical Notes in German: Beliebte Schauspielerin des frühen deutschen Stummfilms, geboren 1892, ältere Schwester der Schauspielerin Grete Weixler. Erste Filmrollen um 1911 als Partnerin von Alwin Neuss, Vor allem die Komödien ihres Ehemannes Franz Hofer werden für Dorrit Weixler in ihren Backfischrollen zum Erfolg: zwischen 1913 und 1915 drehten Franz Hofer und Dorrit Weixler gemeinsam elf Filme, neben den beliebten Komödien unter anderem auch "Kriegsfilme" der Luna-Filmproduktion

Ab 1916 ist sie bei der Oliver-Film Gesellschaft in Berlin unter Vertrag. Bei einem Auftritt im Mai 1916 bricht sie bei der Premiere einer "Dorrit-Weixler-Woche" auf der Bühne des U.T. am Nollendorfplatz zusammen, Dreharbeiten zu einem neuen Film mussten abgebrochen werden. Morphiumsüchtig erhängt sich die 24 jährige nach mehreren erfolglosen Entziehungskuren in einem Berliner Sanatorium am 30. November 1916.
