Biographical Notes in German: Regisseur des französischen Kinos, Studium der Architektur, in den 30er Jahren einige Dokumentarfilme und Arbeiten als Regieassistent. Besonders bemerkenswert sind seine Nachkriegsfilme "La Bataille du Rail" (1946) und "Jeux interdits" (1952). In "Gervaise" (1956) drehte Clément eine überzeugende Fassung von Zola's "L'assomoir". Charmant is seine Anarchisten-Komödie mit Alain Delon und Barbara Kwiatkowska "Che Gioia Vivere". Seine späteren Filme waren meist recht aufwenige Produktionen mit grossem Staraufgebot wie "Brennt Paris", die Zeugnis seines handwerklichen Könnens ohne grosses Engagement abgaben. (lhg 2011)
