He was an English Director, Producer, known for The Thief of Bagdad (1940), The Third Man (1949), To be or not to be (1942), Alexander Korda's first movie on record is from 1914. Alexander Korda died on January 23, 1956 in London. His last motion picture on file dates from 1955.
Biographical Notes in German: Regisseur und Produzent des ungarischen, österreichischen und englischen Films, eigentlich Sandor Laszlo Kellner, emigrierte anfangs der Dreissiger Jahre nach England, wo er 1933 seine Produktionsgesellschaft London Films gründete. Einer seiner ersten Filme, The Private Life of Henry VIII trug seinem Hauptdarsteller Charles Laughton einen Oscar als bester Schauspieler ein. London Films wurde eine der künstlerisch ambitioniertesten Produktionsfirmen Englands der Dreissiger und Vierziger Jahre, zu den von Korda geförderten Regisseuren zählen u.a. Michael Powell, Carol Reed und David Lean. Sir Alexander Korda, der erste in den Ritterstand erhobene Filmschaffende, war der Bruder des Regisseurs Zoltan Korda und des Art Directors Vincent Korda.
