Elfie Mayerhofer was born on March 15, 1917 in Maribor. She was an Austrian Actress, known for Verlorene Melodie (1952), Das Lied der Nachtigall (1943), Anni - eine Wiener Ballade (1948), Elfie Mayerhofer's first movie on record is from 1938. Elfie Mayerhofer died on December 26, 1992 in Maria Enzersdorf. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1958.
Biographical Notes in German: Nach anderen Quellen 1915 geboren, Ihre Filmkarriere begann 1938 mit "Frauen für Golden Hill", sie spielte als Partnerin von Hans Söhnker, Hans Holt, Johannes Heesters. 1957 bis 1960 war sie Mitglied der Deutschen Oper in Düsseldorf. Star der Volksoper in Wien, Inhaberin des Goldenen Ehrenzeichens des Landes Wien und der Johann-Strauss Statuette der Stadt Wien. Bekannt war sie als "Nachtigall von Wien". Nach ihrer Scheidung 1953 fiel sie in tiefe Depressionen, blühte aber 1979 bei ihrer zweiten Ehe nochmals kurz auf. In den 50er und 60er Jahren verschiedene Auftritte in Musiksendungen beim Rundfunk und im Fernsehen, 1975 Auszeichnung als Strauss-Interpretin.
Elfie Mayerhofer starb vergessen im Alter von 75 Jahren in einem Altersheim in Niederösterreich.
