Biographical Notes in German: Starlet des amerikanischen Stummfilms, geboren als Virginia Caroline Rapp in New York. Andere Quellen geben den 7. Juli 1891 als Geburtsdatum an. Ihre Mutter, nach verschiedenen Quellen ein Showgirl in New Yorker Cabarets, starb als Virginia elf Jahre alt war. Die nächsten Jahre verbrachte sie bei Verwandten in Chicago, arbeitete als Modell für Künstler und für verschiedene Warenhäuser in Chicago. Mitte des zweiten Jahrzehnts kam sie zu den Keystone Studios zu Mack Sennett, soll sich sich dort allerdings einen solch zweifelhaften Ruf verdient haben, dass sie Studioverbot bekam. Henry "Pathe" Lehrmann protegierte sie und gab ihr die Hauptrolle in "Fantasy". Ihr Weg nach oben führte sie zu jener denkwürdigen Party in San Francisco an Labour Day 1921: Ihr tragisches Ende - sie wurde allem Anschein nach brutal während der Party im Hotelzimmer vergewaltigt - bedeutete dann auch das Ende der Filmkarriere des Hauptverdächtigen Roscoe Fatty Arbuckle, obwohl jener schliesslich nach drei Prozessen von der Anklage freigesprochen wurde.
