She was married to Albert Bassermann. Elsa Bassermann died on May 20, 1961 in Baden-Baden. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1945.

eigentlich Else Sara Schiff, begann ihre Schauspielkarriere 1902 in Breslau, dann Köln und Nürnberg, schliesslich zum Lessing Theater in Berlin. Dort Bekanntschaft und Heirat mit dem 11 Jahre älteren Albert Bassermann.
