Synopsis in German
In einer alten Wohnbarke auf der Themse wohnt ein verkommenes Malergenie. Gulley Jimson (Alec Guinness) ist besessen von seiner Kunst und der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft ein ärgernis. Von seiner Frau, die seine Bilder verschenkt oder versteckt hat, lebt er getrennt. Eines Tages entdeckt Jimson in der Wohnung eines reichen Ehepaares, das seine Bilder schätzt, eine große weiße Wand. Man erlaubt ihm, diese Fläche während einer Ferienreise der Wohnungsinhaber zu bemalen. Der Alte fühlt sich in seinem Element, verwahrlost die Wohnung und begreift kaum das Entsetzen seiner endlich heimkehrenden Gönner. Weitere Abenteuer dieser Art stehen Jimson bevor, ehe er der Welt den Rücken kehrt. (ZDF Presse)
