Synopsis in German
Das letzte Blatt: Nach der größten Enttäuschung ihres Lebens bricht Joanna seelisch und körperlich gebrochen mit einer Lungenentzündung zusammen. Sie will nicht mehr leben und erklärt ihrer Schwester Susan, daß sie stirbt, wenn das letzte Blatt an der Weinranke vor dem Fenster abgefallen ist. Trotz eisigen Schneewindes hält sich ein Blatt stundenlang, und Joanna entscheidet sich für das Leben. Da findet man den alten Maler Behrman tot vor dem Weinstock, neben ihm eine Leiter und ein Farbtopf; er hatte das Blatt gemalt und es nachts an der Ranke befestigt. Durch sein Opfer wird ein junges Menschenleben gerettet. (as)

Remarks and general Information in German: Als der Film 1953 in den deutschen Kinos gezeigt wurde, hatte er den deutschen Verleihtitel "4 Perlen". Es waren nur vier Episoden, "The Ransom of Red Chief" fehlte. Das ZDF brachte dann den Film 1983 vollständig unter dem Titel "5 Perlen" in deutscher Erstaufführung. (lhg)
