Synopsis in German
Nach der Ermordung Siegfrieds durch Hagen von Tronje sinnt Kriemhild auf blutige Rache an den Beteiligten der Verschwörung. Um ihr Ziel zu erreichen, willigt sie in die Heirat mit Hunnenkönig Etzel ein. Zu den Hochzeitsfeierlichkeiten lädt Etzel die Burgunder mit König Gunther und Hagen von Tronje an seinen Hof ein. Als Kriemhild die Auslieferung Hagens fordert, dieses aber von Gunther und seinen Mannen abgelehnt wird, nimmt die Tragödie ihren Lauf: Kriemhild animiert die Hunnen zu einem kriegerischen Angriff gegen die Burgunder, dem alle Burgunder, mit Ausnahme von Gunther und Hagen, zum Opfer fallen. Als Gunther auch keinen Hinweis auf den Verbleib des Nibelungenschatzes gibt, der nach Siegfrieds Ermordung in seinen Besitz übergegangen ist, lässt Kriemhild ihren Bruder töten. Hagen wird durch ihre eigene Hand enthauptet. (3Sat Presse)
