Für die Hauptrolle der Sängerin Vera, die sich wegen Mordes vor Gericht verantworten muss, kehrte der ehemalige Stummfilm-Star Pola Negri aus Hollywood nach Deutschland zurück. »Raffinierte Regie gibt einer auf Spannungseffekte gestellten Handlung beachtliches Niveau.« (Paimanns Filmlisten).
