Synopsis in German
An einem Spätsommertag überfliegt Gletscherpilot Hermann Geiger einen Viertausender in den Walliser Alpen. Er beobachtet einen gewaltigen Gletscherabbruch. Ohne Rücksicht auf die Gefahr steigen anderntags drei Seilschaften durch diese Gletscherwelt. Darunter ist der Arzt Dr. Gruber, begleitet von seiner Frau, ein junger Ingenieur namens Gisler mit seiner Freundin Monica, zwei leichtsinnige Burschen, Charly und Roby, Bergführer Perren sowie der Engländer Puckle, ein echter Sportsmann. Sie steigen zum Dent Blanche hinauf, geraten in Nebel und Unwetter. Die Konflikte, die den Aufstieg der Bergsteiger geprägt haben, sind plötzlich nichts mehr angesichts des Unglücks, das alle vereint. Auch Geiger riskiert sein Leben, um Menschenleben zu retten.
