Synopsis in German
Um die Schoßhunde seiner Schwester zu retten, erschießt ein junger Cowboy den Sohn des Indianerhäuptlings, der die Hunde in einer Zeremonie schlachten wollte. In den folgenden Indianeraufstand werden die Familie des Mädchens, ein junges Paar und ihr Säugling, ein aufrechter Cowboy und die Kavallerie verwickelt, die in buchstäblich letzter Sekunde die weißen Siedler retten kann.

Remarks and general Information in German: "Innerhalb von 20 Minuten entwickelt Griffith aus einem banalen Zwischenfall eine komplexe Geschichte, in der sich vier Handlungsfäden entwickeln [...], und führt sie zu einem der aufregendsten Höhepunkte, die ein Film dieser Zeit hatte, wieder zusammen, um dann die tumultuöse Geschichte mit einem erheiternden Moment abzufangen. The Battle at Elderbush Gulch vereinigt also bereits jene Stilelemente, die D.W. Griffith zum "Vater der Filmsprache" machen sollten. Seine Mischung aus Action und sentimentalem Melodram ist dabei durchaus typisch für die Entstehungszeit und für den Regisseur, der dieses Rezept (inklusive der Rettung in letzter Minute) zwei Jahre später in seinem Bürgerkriegsepos The Birth of a Nation zu voller Blüte bringen sollte.
