Synopsis in German
Charlie bemĂŒht sich erfolglos um einen Job. Als er entmutigt von der Arbeitsvermittlung zurĂŒckkehrt, trifft er auf den streunenden Hund Scraps und rettet ihn aus einer heiklen Situation. Zusammen klauen die Ausgehungerten Esswaren bei einem Kiosk. Als Charlie nachts Unterschlupf in einem CafĂ© sucht, lernt er eine arme, aus der Provinz stammende SĂ€ngerin kennen, die er tröstet, weil sie beim Publikum keinen Erfolg hat. Da Charlie jedoch kein Geld hat, um sein Bier zu bezahlen, wird er vom CafĂ©besitzer rausgeschmissen. Wenig spĂ€ter findet Scraps ein gestohlenes Portemonnaie und macht Charlie darauf aufmerksam. Dieser nimmt es an sich, kehrt als reicher Mann ins CafĂ© zurĂŒck und bittet die weinende SĂ€ngerin an seinen Tisch. Schon bald entdecken ein paar Diebe das Portemonnaie und nehmen es Charlie ab, der jedoch mit allerhand Tricks versucht, es zurĂŒckzubekommen...... (Arte Presse)
