Die Geschichte der Flyboys ist schon 1958 unter dem Titel "Lafayette Escadrille" von William A. Wellman mit Clint Eastwood verfilmt worden, leider hat die aufwendige Neuversion zum Thema nicht viel Neues beigetragen. Die schwülstige Musik macht's nicht besser und trotz durchaus beeindruckender Actionflugsequenzen bleibt das überlange Filmabenteuer, man muss es so hart sagen: ziemlich langweilig" (V.
