Synopsis in German
Katrin kann von einer glücklichen Familie nur träumen. Denn die Patchwork-Konstellation mit mehreren unfreiwillig verbundenen Familien stellt ihre Nerven auf eine harte Probe. Um das brüchige Verhältnis zu ihrer 14-jährigen Tochter Saskia zu kitten, hat sie alle Familienmitglieder zu deren Konfirmation eingeladen.

Doch Saskia ist jüngst zu ihrem Vater und dessen neuer Familie gezogen, während der Sohn von Katrins neuem Lebensgefährten Philipp bei ihnen eingezogen ist und seitdem Saskias Zimmer und Katrins Leben verwüstet. An einen harmonischen Alltag ist nicht zu denken, an ein friedvolles Familienfest schon gar nicht.

Verzweifelt und überfordert treibt Katrin ihre Tochter eher in eine rebellierende Antihaltung, anstatt zurück in ihre Arme. Auch die moralische Entrüstung von Katrins Vater Horst über das komplizierte und alles andere als funktionierende Familienmodell seiner Tochter birgt so viel Sprengstoff für die noch junge Beziehung zwischen Katrin und ihrem neuen Partner, dass am Ende die große Frage steht: Warum tun wir uns das eigentlich an?
