Synopsis in German
US-Botschafter Fisk (Edward Arnold) und seine attraktive Tochter Joan (Olivia de Havilland) bekommen in Paris Besuch von Senator Cartwright (Adolphe Menjou) und seiner Frau (Myrna Loy). Cartwright will dafür sorgen, dass einfache Soldaten der US-Army nicht mehr in Paris Urlaub machen dürfen, weil sie seiner Ansicht nach dabei zu oft unangenehm auffallen.
Joan Fisk ist da anderer Meinung, und sie will dem einflussreichen Politiker beweisen, dass sie Recht hat, indem sie Sergeant Danny Sullivan (John Forsythe) entsprechend auf die Probe stellt. Joan, ihr Vater und die Cartwrights haben Danny und seinen Freund Al (Tommy Noonan) auf einer Wohltätigkeitsveranstaltung in Paris kennen gelernt, wo die beiden US-Soldaten ums Haar für einen Eklat gesorgt hätten, wäre Joan nicht helfend eingesprungen. Dabei hat sich Danny Hals über Kopf in sie verliebt und ist daher hocherfreut, dass sie mit ihm ausgehen will. Dass Joan die Tochter des amerikanischen Botschafters ist, ahnt er nicht, vielmehr hält er sie für ein reizendes Mannequin.
Joan, alles andere als hochnäsig, lässt sich das gefallen, zumal ihr Danny selber bald immer besser gefällt. Fatal droht sein Irrtum nur zu werden, als Danny sie bei Dior zusammen mit Senator Cartwright sieht und ihr Gespräch mit dem betagten Herrn gründlich missversteht... (ARD Presse)
