Der bekannte Detektiv Jean Coletti hat es in nur 48 Stunden geschafft, einen Bankräuber dingfest zu machen. Da macht sich eine Berliner Zeitung wichtig und behauptet, der Mann wäre noch viel schneller erwischt worden, hätte man die ganze Bevölkerung an der Fahndung beteiligt.
Um diesen Blödsinn zu widerlegen, setzt Coletti eine Belohnung von 100 000 Mark aus, wenn ihn einer der Amateurfahnder ebenfalls in 48 Stunden aufspürt. Er verbreitet massenhaft Steckbriefe und garantiert den Verfolgern, Berlin nicht zu verlassen. Er spaziert mitten durch die Stadt, besucht Kneipen und Kinos und erlebt jede Menge Abenteuer. Doch keinem von denen, die den Mund so voll genommen haben, gelingt es, ihn zu fassen und die ausgesetzte Prämie zu kassieren. (koki Freiburg)
