Alicia Huberman (Ingrid Bergman) verliebt sich in den amerikanischen Geheimagenten Devlin (Cary Grant): Ihr Vater war in den Vereinigten Staaten als Nazi-Spion verurteilt worden. In Rio de Janeiro nimmt Alicia im Auftrage von Devlin Verbindung mit Alexander Sebastian (Claude Rains) auf. Sein Haus ist der Treffpunkt von Nazi-Agenten, die einen Anschlag gegen die USA planen. Devlin und Alicia riskieren, entdeckt zu werden...

Referenzen zum Zweiten Weltkrieg und zum Dritten Reich wurden einfach gelöscht. - Aus wohl unerfindlichen Gründen kursiert bei TV-Ausstrahlungen immer noch diese manipulierte Version ! (lhg 2002)
