Die Beifallsstürme von früher bleiben aus, sie fühlt sich vereinsamt und ist tief deprimiert. Als die schöne Russin sich in ihrem Hotelzimmer mit Tabletten das Leben nehmen will, bewahrt sie der charmante Baron von Gaigern davor. Er ist zum Hoteldieb heruntergekommen und hatte es auf ihre Perlen abgesehen, gibt sich aber als ihr Verehrer aus.
