Synopsis in German
1910: Wie jedes Jahr fährt Horatio Robinson auch in diesem Sommer mit seiner Frau Katharina und den vier Kindern zur Sommerfrische in die Catskill-Berge. Doch diesmal ist alles anders - zumindest für die 17-jährige Polly. Sie möchte sich nicht länger als kleines Mädchen mit ihren beiden kleinen Brüdern und ihrer jüngeren Schwester Mimi zum Spielen an den Strand schicken lassen. Je mehr sie sich als junge Dame fühlt, desto weniger versteht sie sich mit ihrem früheren Spielkameraden, dem linkischen Hotelierssohn Billy. Als Polly im Hotel den attraktiven Kubaner Gomez Armendez trifft, ist sie von seinem Charme hingerissen ist. Doch ihre ältere Freundin, die Tänzerin Valerie, hat sich ebenfalls in Gomez verliebt und spannt ihn ihr aus. Polly gibt nicht auf und folgt ihnen auf einer Bootspartie. In ihrer Aufregung fällt sie dabei ins Wasser. Gomez bringt sie durchnässt zu ihren Eltern zurück, die ihn daraufhin missverständlicherweise für einen Wüstling halten und ihr jeden weiteren Umgang mit ihm verbieten. Polly ist todunglücklich...
