Der US-General Taylor bereitet einen Friedensvertrag zwischen der Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten und den Apachen vor. Das Vorhaben ist jedoch den Gangstern Dixon und Burker sowie ihrem Helfershelfer Captain Bradley ein Dorn im Auge. Denn in Wirklichkeit haben es die Männer auf das Weideland der Apachen abgesehen.
Mit Hilfe einer Bande von Outlaws sowie einer Gruppe marodierender Komantschen fingieren die Verbrecher einen Apachen-Überfall auf die nahe gelegene Northern Ranch und töten deren Besitzer. Tom, der Sohn des ermordeten Farmers, hat jedoch alles beobachtet und ist bei der Halbindianerin Paloma untergetaucht.
Für Old Shatterhand, der Paloma zu ihrem Onkel nach Sacramento bringen will, ist Tom ein wichtiger Zeuge. Zusammen mit seinem Freund, dem Apachen-Häuptling Winnetou, will er herausfinden, wer hinter den Überfällen steckt.. (3Sat Presse)
