Synopsis in German
Barker und Graham sind Konkurrenten bei einer Segelregatta, aber auch Konkurrenten um die Hand der schönen Ethel. Sie liebt Barker, den Spieler, aber als der sein Vermögen verspielt, heiratet sie Graham, seinen Gläubiger. Dennoch kann Ethel ihre Liebe nicht verleugnen: Sie bestiehlt den Ehemann, verlässt Mann und Kind und brennt mit Barker durch. Ihr Leben verläuft im Elend. Währenddessen heiratet Graham erneut, um dem Kind eine Mutter zu geben. Doch da kommt Barker zurück. Er will sich an Graham rächen und droht ihm mit einer Anzeige wegen Bigamie. Die Männer richten die Waffen aufeinander. Ethel stürzt dazwischen, wird getroffen. Sterbend bittet sie ihren Mann, ihnen zu verzeihen: Sie sind im Leben "über Bord" gegangen. (www.filmportal.de)
