Im Bürgerkrieg. US-Captain Hayes hat den Auftrag, die kalifornischen Goldtransporte für die Nordstaaten zu sichern. Ein Südstaatenkommando unter Clay Putnam, dessen Frau Norma eine frühere Braut von Hayes ist, versucht mit allen Mitteln, diese Transporte zu verhindern. Bei einer Konfrontation erschiesst Hayes seinen Gegner. Norma fährt in ihre Heimat, nach St. Louis, zurück. Hayes heiratet eine Farmers-Witwe. (Hembus, Western-Lexikon)
