Der noch unbekannte Kapellmeister Franz von Suppé verliebt sich in eine bekannte Sängerin, die ihm die Gelegenheit verschafft, eine unfertige Operette seines populären Konkurrenten Jacques Offenbach zu vollenden. Damit kann er den Grundstein seiner steilen Karriere legen. Als er die Sängerin, die inzwischen seine Frau ist, auf dem Gipfel seines Erfolges zu Gunsten einer jüngeren verlassen will, muss er sich zwischen der Liebe und der Musik entscheiden.(3Sat Presse)
