"Wrong Turn" suffers a fate similar to that of many other horror and ì
supernatural thrillers released in the last decade: It leaves you with the ì
feeling that you're watching an episode of "The X-Files," only Mulder and ì
Scully never show up. In this case, the feeling is especially strong, as the ì
movie closely recalls an episode called "Home," featuring the inbred Peacock ì
brothers. Perhaps Rupert Murdoch (the owner of the studio and the network ì
behind the movie and the show) has a found a new way to repurpose horror.

Like the TV episode, "Wrong Turn" eventually leads to a murderous family with ì
a genetic pattern that would hearten European royal families of yore -- only ì

"Wer "Wrong Turn" gesehen hat, der wird den Film nicht vergessen, sagt ì
Produzent Stan Winston. Dann wird es vorbei sein mit dem unbeschwerten Campen ì
im idyllischen Wald unter freiem Himmel. Das kann schon sein, zumal das für ì
jeden gut gemachten Horrorfilm gilt. Mit "Wrong Turn" will uns Regisseur Rob ì
Schmidt das Fürchten lernen. Und das gelingt ihm auch. Sein Film ist ein ì
souveräner Horrorfilm, die Story ist ebenso konventionell wie die Gestaltung ì
der menschlichen Monster. Aber wer sich ein wenig Gruseln will im Kino, dem ì
sei dieser Film (übrigens nach dem Kinoerfolg "Resident Evil" der zweite ì
internationale Action-Horror-Thriller koproduziert von der Münchner ì
Constantin) empfohlen. Nur eines wünscht man dem Zuschauer nicht: dass er ì
