Synopsis in German
Chris Hunter (Clark Gable) ist von seinem Chef „Gabby“ MacArthur (Walter Connolly) nach Shanghai geschickt worden, um Wochenschau-Berichte vom japanisch-chinesischen Krieg zu drehen. Da das nicht recht klappen will, beschafft sich der schlitzohrige Kameramann Aufnahmen auf seine Weise. Sein Kollege und Konkurrent Bill Dennis (Walter Pidgeon) kommt ihm auf die Schliche und versucht seinerseits, Hunter auszutricksen.
Bei dieser Gelegenheit lernt Hunter die junge Pilotin Alma Harding (Myrna Loy) kennen. Bei ihrer nächtlichen Landung kollidiert sein Wagen mit ihrem Flugzeug, Hunter rettet sie aus der brennenden Maschine und ist selber rasch entflammt für die attraktive junge Frau. Er gefällt ihr ebenfalls, aber auch seinen Kollegen Bill Dennis findet sie sehr sympathisch.
Miss Harding hat einen Bruder, der im Amazonas-Gebiet verschwunden ist. Sie glaubt fest daran, dass er noch lebt, und will ihn mit einer Suchexpedition aufspüren. Hunter möchte ihr dabei helfen, aber als die junge Frau dahinter kommt, dass er gewisse Dinge vor ihr verborgen hat, wendet sie sich von ihm ab. Hunter sorgt dennoch dafür, dass die Expedition zustande kommt. Sie verläuft noch abenteuerlicher, als beide sich das vorgestellt haben... (ARD Presse)
