Synopsis in German
Rauschende Feste prägen die Sommer des russischen Hochadels Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts. Doch am westlichen Horizont ballen sich Gewitterwolken zusammen. Napoleon Bonaparte überzieht ganz Europa mit Kriegen und marschiert im Juni 1812 auch in Russland ein.
Im September erobern die Truppen des französischen Kaisers Moskau. Der "Vaterländische Krieg" erschüttert nicht nur das Russische Reich, sondern auch das Leben der Familie Rostow in ihren Grundfesten. Doch nicht nur auf den Feldern der Ehre werden Schlachten geschlagen.
Die Tochter der Familie, Natascha, kann sich mit der geplanten Vernunftheirat mit Prinz Andrej Bolkonski nicht anfreunden. Ihr Herz gehört Anatol Kuragin. Doch auch Graf Pierre Bezukow hat ein Auge auf die hübsche Aristokratin geworfen. (Arte Presse)
