Remarks and general Information in German: «Der Film – mit dem Jean-Vigo-Preis 2006 ausgezeichnet – erzählt aus der Sicht eines 11-jährigen Jungen, die Zerrüttung einer Bauernfamilie. Die Mutter lebt zurückgezogen in ihrem Zimmer, der ältere Bruder ertränkt seine Sorgen im Alkohol, der Vater kann sich nicht aus der Hörigkeit gegenüber seiner Mutter lösen und sieht untätig zu, wie seine Familie zu Grunde geht. Der kleine Junge findet zwar Trost bei der marokkanischen Hausangestellten und bei seiner Katze, doch dann beschliesst er sein Leben zu ändern. Der Film schildert das Ende einer Familie, aber auch einer Epoche - jener des Bauerntums - die bereits der Vergangenheit angehört.» (Locarno 2006)
