Die Kriegsjahre haben ihn zwar reifer gemacht im Aussehen, aber seine Geschmeidigkeit und seinen unnachahmlichen Humor nicht beeinträchtigt. Der Inhalt trägt die Marke des französischen Schwanks. Das ist eben ihre Spezialität und kann von einem anderen Volk kaum in dieser Art wiedergegeben werden. Welch komische Situation sich ergeben muß, wenn ein Mann beim ersten Rendezvous die Hosen verliert, kann man sich denken. Aber die Umstände, die ihn dahin führten, in diese Situation zu geraten, sind schon von so komischer Wirkung, wie sie eben nur Max Linder hervorrufen kann. - Wundervoll klar und scharf sind die Bilder, die eine unbestritten vervollkommnete Technik bekunden.
