Synopsis in German
Professor Wagstaff ist gerade in sein Amt als neuer Präsident des Huxley College eingeführt worden und offenbart schon bei seiner Antrittsrede, dass er seine eigenen, unorthodoxen Vorstellungen vom Ablauf an einem College hat. Vor allem liegt ihm daran, dass sein College Football-Meister wird. In einer Spelunke heuert er zwei Footballspieler an, mit deren Hilfe man das anstehende Spiel gegen das Darwin College zu gewinnen hofft. Aber das Darwin College war schneller und so verpflichtet Wagstaff irrtümlich Baravelli und Pinky, einen Schmuggler und einen Hundefänger, die von Football keine Ahnung haben. Trotzdem gelingt es den Marx Brothers, das Spiel gegen das Darwin College, das durch einige Regeländerungen zu einem furiosen Finale wird, für sich zu entscheiden... (Arte Presse)

Remarks and general Information in German: "'Die Marx-Brothers - Blühender Blödsinn' ist die zweite Marx Brothers Produktion, die unter der Regie von Norman MacLeod für Paramount entstand. Der Film ist unverkennbar eine Satire auf das höhere Bildungssystem der USA, in dem man es als inkompetentes Großmaul (Wagstaff) bis zum Präsidenten eines Colleges bringen kann und in dem der Sport eine größere Bedeutung einnimmt als profunde Bildung. 'Die Marx-Brothers - Blühender Blödsinn' bezieht seine Klasse aus den Slapstick-Einlagen der Marx Brothers. Unvergesslich ist der Dialog zwischen Groucho und Chico an der Tür des 'Speakeasy', bei dem es um ein geheimes Passwort geht. Aber auch Harpos Picknick auf der Straße und der anschließende Streit mit dem Verkehrspolizisten oder die von Wagstaff gehaltene Anatomievorlesung sind echte Highlights und machen 'Die Marx-Brothers - Blühender Blödsinn' zu einem der besten Marx-Brothers-Filme."
