Synopsis in German
Thomas Vlassenroot ist 1961 mit der Fremdenlegion in Algerien stationiert, um die Unabhängigkeitsbewegung zu bekämpfen. Als die französische Regierung mit den Aufständischen in Verhandlungen tritt und es so aussieht, als werde Algerien unabhängig, desertiert er zusammen mit seinem Leutnant. Der schließt sich der pro-französischen Terrororganisation OAS an und rekrutiert Thomas für eine Mission: Er soll die Anwältin Dominique Servet entführen und daran hindern, zwei Algerier vor Gericht zu verteidigen. Die Entführung gelingt, doch bald schon hat Thomas Mitleid mit der Frau. Bei einer Auseinandersetzung mit seinem Komplizen kommt es zu einem Schusswechsel, aus dem Thomas als Sieger hervorgeht. Danach gibt es kein Zurück mehr; er befreit Dominique, und beide fliehen jeweils nach Frankreich. Doch Thomas wird bei der Flucht angeschossen. Die Wunde macht ihm zu schaffen, und so sucht er auf seiner Rückreise Dominique in Lyon auf. Er entwickelt starke Gefühle für sie, nicht ahnend, dass der Leutnant sie nach Frankreich hat verfolgen lassen (arte Presse)
