Synopsis in German
Unter den Engländern, die Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts nach Australien kommen, um als Goldgräber ihr Glück zu machen, herrscht Frauenmangel. Daher entsendet die englische Regierung ein Schiff mit heiratswilligen jungen Mädchen, die im vorhinein unter den Männern verlost werden. Als eine der Frauen auf der Überfahrt stirbt, beschließen die Schiffsoffiziere, dem Schicksal einen Streich zu spielen und dem leer ausgegangenen Manne eine andere Frau zuzulosen und dafür den ursprünglich für diese Braut bestimmten Mann leer ausgehen zu lassen. Als dieser von dem Streich erfährt, der ihm gespielt wurde, versucht er seinen Konkurrenten zu ermorden, tötet dabei einen Unschuldigen und endet durch Selbstmord. (www.filmportal.de)
