Synopsis in German
Zu nächtlicher Stunde halten zwei Herren auf offener Strecke einen Expresszug an. Bei ihrem Anblick ergreifen zwei andere Reisende schleunigst die Flucht, denn die Aufmachung der beiden Zusteigenden lässt nur einen Schluss zu: Sie müssen Sherlock Holmes (Hans Albers) und Dr. Watson (Heinz Rühmann) sein.
So kommen die beiden Gentlemen zu einem freien Schlafwagenabteil und machen die Bekanntschaft der hübschen Schwestern Jane (Hansi Knoteck) und Mary Berry (Marieluise Claudius), die sie bald darauf im Schloss ihres verstorbenen Onkels wiedertreffen. Der Pariser Polizeipräsident hat das berühmte Detektiv-Gespann nämlich um Hilfe gebeten, und tatsächlich klären die Herren nicht nur das Geheimnis der falschen Mauritiusmarken auf, sondern schaffen es auch, unter manchen Abenteuern einen großen Fälscherring auffliegen zu lassen. Anschließend müssen sie sich zwar selber als angebliche Schwindler vor Gericht verantworten, aber auch das meistern sie mit Bravour... (ARD Presse).
